Not the Greatest Pumpkin Patch

We went to a local pumpkin patch over the weekend and it was pretty lame. The main portion of the pumpkin patch was a bunch of pumpkins in a pile, a cashier, some goats and some pigs.  If you wanted to go to the actual pumpkin patch you had to take a FORTY FIVE MINUTE hayride and pay $5 a person. I was very disappointed.  Even the fake pumpkin patch in Hawaii was better than this one and they took imported pumpkins and stuck them in a field to give you the illusion of picking your own pumpkins.

We did get a pumpkin though and isn't that the whole point? Baby boy picked out his very own pumpkin and by pick I mean he grunted his approval at the pumpkin I picked out.

Four Weeks Old

Look at that hair line! It is epic.

This little man is four weeks old and already rocking three month clothes. He has started making new noises and continues to grunt and laugh through the night. But even though those little grunts wake me up all night, he has started sleeping 6+ hours! It's magic, pure magic, I love my amazing little sleeper. However, daytime is a totally different story.  During the day sleep sessions average 20 to 45 minutes and there is a lot of fussing in between.

I can't believe he is already four weeks old and I totally started crying today when I looked at photos from his delivery.  The emotions are still very fresh and my love is very strong.

nearly one month of this parenting thing

My baby boy is nearly a month old and I feel like I've learned a few things as a mom in this short time. Mainly, that baby skin goes through a lot in these first few weeks; baby acne, cradle cap, diaper rash, and now he's balding! I knew this would all happen, but I didn't know it would come all at once.  Now I'm taking care of a baby that happens to look like a little old man and is consistently eyeing me up like he's just not quite sure why I'm feeding him.

snippets of the weekend

Brenden was out of town this weekend for a wedding so baby boy and I were on our own.  I have to say I think I did really well solo parenting my two week old, although I did think "thank god I'm not a single parent" probably 100 times. A quick recap of the weekend; eat, sleep, eat, don't sleep, eat, sleep, run an errand, solve a catastrophe, eat, sleep, eat, sleep, daddy's home!

It was a wild weekend.

weekend at grandmas

We spent the weekend at our vacation home while the grandparents were in Arkansas.  Our first weekend away as a family and our little man was only 9 days old. He's growing so fast! We learned some things during our two day vacation.  Such as, it is basically impossible to cloth diaper on vacation unless you have access to a washer and dryer. I brought twelve diapers with us and did laundry both days. Also, walks are best right after being fed and socks refuse to stay on.  We've taken two walks with our little guy and both have ended with him be carried by daddy. One day we'll make it through a whole walk.

One Week Down

We came home from the hospital one week ago today! and finally, FINALLY I'm starting to feel like myself again. I can move around, and get out of bed without cringing, and my body is starting to look like my body again (pre-pregnancy!), it's been wonderful. Of course the best part of all is having my sweet baby boy around.  I only dread the middle of the night wake ups a little tiny bit because seeing his sweet face makes me swoon.

He has arrived

Our sweet baby boy arrived just three hours and 22 minutes past his due date.  We could not be happier or more in love.
