currently

I'm home alone tonight as Brenden has gone to a charity event and left me to take care of Izzy all by myself.  It's likely going to be a rough night.  Izzy has already tried to run after something on the lanai, inspected the new full length mirror (he broke the last one), and he is not quiet tonight. He's just staring at me now, like he's planning how to torture me.

Just kidding, I love Izzy.  He can be really annoying but he is still the best cat ever.

Currently:

*I'm shadowing at my first open house on Sunday (at a 2 million property!!!) so I have been busy memorizing statistics and preparing myself.

*If you follow me on instagram, twitter, or Facebook you've seen my new business cards!!

*Brenden and I have been sad about Halloween.  Last year our costumes were so amazing!! It made it incredibly difficult deciding what to be this year. So hard in fact that we never made a decision... However, I have thought of two last minute costumes we can throw together if we end up going out.

*I've been neglecting the blog.  Now that I'm working full time, I don't want to be on the computer when I get home.  I want to spend time with my husband, so I do.  But I had time tonight!

*driving all the time is terrible!!  I'm so lucky that I don't have to drive through the major traffic areas.

*Looking forward to visiting Jason Derck on Kauai.

Well that's it folks! I'm going to spend the night catching up on my stories and bothering Izzy.

Guess what!

plumerias at Fort Derussy
I'm working full time now as a realtor and you can find my facebook page here.   If you'd like to buy any million dollar homes in Hawaii, I'm your girl ;D

It's exciting having a career, and dressing professionally and feeling like an adult instead of a student who graduated and then couldn't find a job.  Which isn't even true, I actually did get a job offer that I was not into and then took a part time job that did not work out AT ALL! In fact, I worked there nearly 3 months ago and I am just now getting my paycheck sorted.  Such a pain.

Anyway, while I get into the routine of working full time blogging may take a nose dive OR we'll do a few features on open houses in Hawaii! Part of my training homework is checking out multiple listings and you can bet that Brenden and I will be going to check out the luxury homes.

Manana Ridge

MaƱana Ridge is a 11 mile round trip hike that is on the top of a ridge while the sun beats down, and today it was lacking a breeze.  My friend Alayna and I started the hike not realizing how long it was so we only did four miles because it was SO hot today.  I have tan lines from my shirt, shorts, and shoes.  But it was actually totally beautiful and next time we want to do the whole thing! We just need to bring more water, a snack, and sunscreen.

life and other things

Well, I start my new career on Monday! Exciting/terrifying at the same time.  I have wanted to be a teacher for so long and now I am going to be a realtor, very scary.

While waiting for that to begin I've had a lot of free time, and wouldn't you know it I've only gone to the beach once (for five minutes!) since we got back. But, I have been hiking several times and that has been wonderful.  Hiking is the perfect way for me to get outside, see new things and, workout.

Aside from hiking, I have also been doing a lot of cooking. Homemade bread, homemade pizza, homemade bagels, homemade butter, homemade tortillas, homemade ice cream, homemade whatever..I'm on a bit of a kick of wanting everything to be homemade, especially basics.  Its been great though because I'm actually seeing what is in the food we're eating and its free from preservatives and chemicals and other weird things.

I should start taking pictures of the things we do more often so I have pretty pictures to put on the blog.  But, I do try to make a point of not being obsessed with technology all the time. I guess quality of life is more important than the blog, or something.

birthday hike

^The seeds made a wonderful walking path^

I didn't want to do much for my birthday.  I was not accepting getting older and was a ball of nerves thinking about my new job.  So in the morning when Brenden asked me what I wanted to do I shrugged and said "nothing".   It was raining and all I wanted to do was snuggle, but I still wanted to be outside. Such a dilemma.

Eventually I got my act together and decided I wanted to go hiking.  There was a break in the rain and I found a very nice hike that seemed short and easy, perfect for if I changed my mind.  But I didn't change my mind! We probably would have hiked the entire system of trails if it hadn't started raining again. We went to Pu'u 'Ualakaa' State Park and followed that trail until we met up with the Maikiki Heights trail and then went on the Makoa trail until we finished back on Pu'u 'Ualakaa' trail.  All the trails we went on seemed to meet and circle around so it was a nice hike to see different scenery and views.

The trails themselves are a very nice and easy hike, almost like a stroll through the woods.  The only downside was that it's been raining a lot recently and the Makoa trail is on the side of a cliff, so if you slip in the mud, you may fall a long way.

We used the All Trails app to track our hike

CRABS

^crab!^
^crab!^

It was crabtastic at the beach the other day.  Crabs were just crawling around all over the place, even under my towel.  There was one point where I could see 8 crabs at the same time.  I've never seen so many crabs on the beach.

I decided to visit a different area of Kahala beach and it was completely empty (except for the crabs). Of course there wasn't much sand, but that didn't stop me! The emptiness gave me plenty of space to do my thing and enjoy the quiet.

bold patterns

dress: brandy melville
Usually when I see clothing with a bold pattern, I immediately turn the other direction. But when I saw this dress, something drew me in.  Then I saw the back, felt the fabric, and saw the price tag (on sale!!) and I was sold!

Part of me feels like a tourist when I wear it, because I'm in Hawaii wearing a dress with a very Hawaiian pattern....

beach lifestyle

Everyone thinks when you live in Hawaii you go to the beach all day, every day.  Some people probably do, but for Brenden and me, thats just not the case. We go through phases where we either go to  the beach every chance we get or don't go at all. There have been many months where I have not gone to the beach and Brenden knows people who haven't been in years. It really just depends.

Right now I don't know what phase I'm in. I went twice in one week but before that I hadn't gone in a month. At least I'm getting a little tan.
